To harvest or not to harvest?
Some vintages can be summed up by the weather conditions upon harvesting! Such is the case for 2023. At the end of August, vines were roasting on the hillside… Then a sudden cold snap: summer was supposed to be over… However, another heat wave came right after.
If choosing a harvest date is usually a gamble, in 2023, the key was not to wait.
We had to start at dawn, when it was still cool!
As pinot noir means black pinot, the grape definitely deserves its name in 2023. Juices were dark, full-bodied with velvety tannins; however, it was freshness that dominated on the palate with rising hints of licorice.

Records are beaten !
Rapid budburst, followed by a vegetative slowdown due to the onset of a “Nordic” cold. Exceptional weather conditions starting from mid-April accelerated flowering and veraison (start of ripening).
Dominated by excess sunshine and low rainfall, with the vines never experiencing any water stress, 2022 will go down as the second hottest summer after 2003.
What's more, 2022 is the hottest year on record since the beginning of the 20th century.
A singular and exceptional vintage, 2022 will prove to be as generous as it is qualitative.
Smells like an award !
A deep bigarro colour sets the tone. Aromas burst forth. First taste is direct. Particularly well served by velvety tannins, the palate is both round and structured, with good length. There's plenty of ageing potential.
It's good right now, but not only !

No need to hurry !
Ten days of summer weather in the spring, followed by three nights of polar frost (April 6 to 9), sealed the vintage’s fate. The production potential was irreparably damaged.
That said, the return to normal weather conditions greatly benefited the Pinot Noir, with the grapes reaching full ripeness, anthocyanin levels close to those of 2015, and tannin levels similar to those of 1999 at harvest time…
But there wasn’t much of it !
Carmine with shades of ruby, the wine's brightness stands out. Fruity aromas immediately come out. On the palate, it avoids extravagance, favoring instead a gentle, restrained, and distinctive expression typical of Pinot Noir, Burgundy's emblematic grape variety.
Don't miss out... if there's any left !

It is global warming, or is it ?
From January to September, temperatures were consistently higher than usual, with less rainfall and more sunshine. It was the warmest year since the start of the century. Despite the water stress, which never reached the critical point, conditions proved favorable for the synthesis of phenolic compounds that contribute to the quality of the grapes. Notably, the sugar content at harvest was among the top three of all vintages, while the acidity levels were equally remarkable.
Nothing to complain about !
The wine color caresses your eye. Even without tasting it, you can sense the grape's presence in the glass. This isn't just a wine to taste; it's the one to enjoy. The structure is both tight and delicate, with fine tannins that enhance the palate's tension. The ageing potential is remarkable.
Drink now AND in the future !

Hot and thirsty !
The spring was pleasantly mild until the slight chill at the very start of flowering, before giving way to 2003-style heat and a few storms that did no damage to the vines.
In the end, it was some of the ripest grapes we've ever seen, with not only remarkable sugar levels, but also an exceptional harmony between sugar and acidity.
A great bottle !
Robe is more black than red. The nose reveals none of the wine's high alcohol content. From the first sip, it envelops the palate without being aggressive. Bold but balanced. The wine is round, supple, and generous - another legendary vintage ending in 9. Enjoy in moderation, of course. However, there's only one overwhelming desire: to finish the bottle.
At this rate, the stock won’t last !

A Masterful Performance!
In February, the "Moscow-to-Paris" wind blew cold and dry. At this time of year, such conditions are ideal because vines are at rest.
As spring progressed, temperatures gradually increased, leading to an unusually hot summer. This period was occasionally interrupted by thunderstorms, which proved harmless. The harvest was gathered during pleasant weather.
This "textbook" climatic pattern contributed to a vintage renowned for its exceptional ripeness !
Cardinal Red. Richelieu would not have denied.
The moment the cork is pulled, the wine immediately reveals its Pinot Noir fragrances. It vibrates with a certain brilliance. This vintage has its diamonds. On the palate, everything goes perfectly: power and finesse, length and generosity, and an impeccable texture.
And for those with patience, it also promises great longevity !

Regularity Pays !
The weather was cold and dry in January, which is quite typical. After a brief cool wave in late April, it warmed up, leading to a mild and sunny period with slightly below-average rainfall. Although it didn't reach the extremes of 2003, 2011, or 2015, 2017 falls into the category of warmer, drier vintages.
While it may not match the levels of 2005, the sugar content in 2017 was notably high, contributing to a significant ripeness. Additionally, unlike 2016, the harvest was notably generous.
A winning vintage !
With a color worthy of the finest couturiers, the aromas of Pinot Noir burst forth from the glass. On the palate, the tannins are elegantly taut yet pleasantly supple, with balance being the predominant characteristic.

Its all about the weather !
After the warmest winter recorded since 1900, the first half of the year was generally mild and very wet, except for the frost on the nights of April 26 to 28, which caused considerable damage.
Such late spring frost challenges the idea of global warming and it’s not the only curious fact. All in all, while the 2016 vintage remains one of the latest to flower, thanks to a moderate load and a fine late season, it is, against all expectations, characterized by the highest ripeness.
On the podium !
One of the shiniest wines. The delicate finesse of the red berries is an irresistible invitation to taste, unveiling an elegant structure upheld by the smoothness of supple tannins. There's no doubt - this is a fine wine.
It has a lot to give for the coming years, but only in small quantities !

Hot, sunny, and with little rain-that’s all !
Exceptional sunshine resulted in 2.5 times more days above 30°C. While rainfall was painfully missing, a few light showers at the beginning of August saved the vintage by starting the veraison.
The cherry on the cake was the weather in September considerably cooling down, enabling an exceptional harvest. Some of the highest levels of sugar ever registered. Anthocyanins and tannins even bet the 1999 record !
It’s a winner !
The blood of the vine catches you at first sight… Aromas of Pinot Noir are at their best. Then, it's a true festival on the palate. The attack is direct and straightforward. There's no doubt: 2015 is unique and exceptional. The wine's touch is undeniable. Between warmth and roundness, it vibrates at every level.
It’s a year of superlatives !

An upside-down year; September was the key-month.
After a winter with copious rainfall, a mild, very dry spring, and a cool, rainy summer, the harvest took place in dry weather with warmer-than-normal temperatures. The return of anticyclonic conditions from August 27 onwards meant that veraison and ripening progressed steadily, resulting in a pleasant surprise: anthocyanin and tannin levels close to those of 2012.
One day the weather is fine. The other - it is not.
The colors are shimmering, such a visual delight. The languorous aromas that escape when opening the bottle are captivating. It's easy-to-drink and full of mellowness. Suave and eager to please, it delivers pure pleasure.
Vintages follow one another, but they are never the same !

A cold and rainy vintage… According to its reputation.
The year had excessive rainfall, particularly in April and May. Aside from alternating periods of mild weather in July, August, and September, it was predominantly cool. Consequently, flowering was among the latest observed in the past 20 years. Without an Indian summer, the optimal sugar-to-acidity balance was only reached at the very end of September. The solution lay in a late harvest date !
We have been used to more depth in the robe. Anyway, driven by a nice freshness, aromas truly explode. Even if 2013 is more easy-to-drink than full-bodied it was saved by harvesting late. Palate is clear and fresh, it shall put a spell on you! It won’t take long to empty the bottle !
Drink carefully of course but why not uncork a second one ?

Highs and lows with a beautiful ending !
While temperatures progressed steadily throughout the season, alternating between warm and cold in a perfectly orchestrated manner until a sunny and hot September, the same pattern applied to sunshine and precipitation. 2012 was a clockwork !
Early budburst was followed by a slowdown, with flowering occurring in early June and then becoming more chaotic. Veraison, delayed by the cool weather in the first half of July, did not prevent the harvest from reaching sugar and acidity levels close to those of 2010.
When we thought we were on the right track, everything began to slip away. But just when it seemed like we were losing it all, we ended up doing great !
A deep, dense red, with rich, intense red fruit aromas. The ripe, silky tannins contribute to a beautiful harmony on the palate. The wine is full-bodied but leaves plenty of room for the terroir and the racy distinction of great Burgundies.
Once again, September takes it all !

A strong start always pays off at the finish line !
After a rather warm and wet first half of the year, July and August were more varied, with cooler temperatures in July and intense thunderstorms in August. But, as often happens—if not always—September made the difference: hot, dry, and sunny.
Thanks to the summery conditions at the very start of April, the buds burst, and flowering occurred within just a few days. September then took over, with bees witnessing the season's success. The ripeness was there, as well as the balance.
The deep, vibrant red color and pure aromas are a true invitation to taste. The attack on the palate is direct, with both verticality and horizontality. The fruit speaks for itself, with freshness taking center stage. Power and elegance are in perfect balance.

Unprecedented!
The winter was so harsh that some vines even froze. Fortunately, the weather normalized by harvest time, allowing us to harness the sweetness of the grapes. Delaying the harvest by a week proved to be a wise decision, optimizing the phenolic ripeness of the grapes, thanks in large part to an exceptional October.
Hit the bull’s eye !
The wine’s robe slightly reminds of a cherry and it has an impressive aromatic purity. With tannins close to those of 2009 and higher anthocyanins, there's a great deal of finesse and elegance, it's fresh and warming at the same time.
A fine revenge on winter !

The legend of vintages ending in 9 !
Throughout its vegetative cycle, 2009 benefited from ideal weather conditions, culminating in an apotheosis of warmth and exceptional sunshine until perfect ripeness; such climatic conditions are proper to the rise of exceptional wines.
Born in the light, 2009 will appreciate cellaring, which will give it a final patina.
The legend is confirmed !
Seductive at first sight with its deep, gleaming color, the wine equally excites the nose with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, complemented by spicy notes that evolve as the wine breathes. But the experience doesn’t stop there. The sensory pleasure reaches its peak when you taste its generous roundness and complexity on the palate.
The finish is endlessly lingering !

Stay patient !
After a sunny, mild, and dry winter, the trend reversed, leading to rather pleasant months in May and June, only to be followed by relatively cool weather and significant rainfall starting in July.
Although bud-break was expected, it came quickly. Flowering was somewhat disrupted and veraison was spread out.
To the winegrower's great relief, September brought a gradual return to high-pressure conditions, allowing the grapes to complete their ripening process, which had been delayed, and reach the usual sugar levels.
Never give up !
Morello cherry clearly dominates the nose as well as the hue. The legendary minerality of Burgundy's Pinot Noir and the finesse of its tannins gracefully complement the wine's smooth texture.
No need to wait !

A very mild winter, followed by a sunny and drier spring. Summer was more varied, with increasingly excessive rainfall.
Bud-break was both early and explosive, as was flowering, which until then had never been seen so early, but, contrary to expectations, veraison was slow in coming.
Nevertheless, the return of dry, sunny weather in September resulted in higher sugar levels than in 2006.
A nice surprise that the summer rains didn't suggest !
If body and aroma are the two essentials for an enticing red wine, then we're in for a treat! The palate follows through with a bold yet creamy elegance.

All things considered…
Winter lingered on but spring ended up being above seasonal average until the start of summer. However August was gloomy and cool with excessive rainfall.
Until July, there was a palpable concern that the vintage would be particularly early. However, August's relative coolness and abundant rainfall raised fears of the worst.
In September near-summer weather returned and the grapes ripened well.
In the bag !
This wine has color, it’ a fact! In the glass, the aromas of the grapes emerge beautifully, offering a unique olfactory experience that continues pleasantly on the palate. This wine presents a symphony of texture, structure, and exceptionally smooth tannins.
Something to look forward to !

Everything will be fine !
Despite a brief spike in heat and sunshine during the flowering period, it was overall consistency that prevailed, aside from a notable and persistent lack of rainfall.
All things considered, these conditions were both highly favorable for vine health and mildly stressful, which in turn encouraged optimal concentration and ripeness in the grapes.
While 2002 was quite exceptional and 2003 completely atypical, 2005 is shaping up to be a vintage that simply cannot be overlooked.
Not a scratch !
With its vibrant ruby hue and charming notes of red berries, this wine is dominated by fruit, with its minerality shining through even more prominently. From the first sip, it strikes with precision-ripe, supple tannins resonate, bringing a vinous generosity that matches its underlying power.
A true Vivaldi in the glass !

The HEAT WAVE !
According to our elders, we've never seen anything like it before. Throughout the summer of 2003, it was hot—very hot; dry—very dry; day and night without a break, inside and out.
Phew !
Is it red ? Yes. Are the aromatics warm ? Yes. Is there wine ? Yes. Tasting this wine is a unique experience. Instantly, the palate is hit with a phenomenal amount of tannin, which, after a few seconds, melt in the mouth like chocolate. Mozart ! The grapes tease out the tobacco notes. Need we mention the structure ? Not even ! Is there still an ounce of freshness left ? That's the achievement: Yes !
A UFO !

Good blood will tell.
Warmth and sunshine during the flowering period, constant and marked drought throughout the summer, sunshine and cool temperatures throughout the harvest.
Burgundian weather conditions for exceptional wines.
Without breaking a sweat !
The wine's ruby color is not excessive, and the tertiary aromas are full of finesse. We're in the world of great Burgundy bottles. The attack on the palate is straightforward and sharp, its lovely roundness blends seamlessly with its harmonious balance of acidity and tannins. The terroir speaks for itself.
To miss it would be sacrilege !

It was not easy !
Despite a mild winter and early budburst, the cold weather in April slowed down vegetative development.
Then, after a month of sunshine in May, the flowering, which had started quite early, was hampered by cooler temperatures, resulting in a heterogeneous ripening process that lasted until the harvest.
A cool, rainy July, a very sunny and warm August, and a cool, relatively dry September all contributed to good ripening.
The fruity notes become more pronounced as the wine breathes. The hue has a brilliant purple color. On the palate, it is clean and fresh, with a well-balanced acidity that enhances the fruit's enduring qualities. The wine is restrained and elegant, embodying the true essence of Burgundy's Pinot Noir.

The next change of millennium will take place in almost a thousand years !
In the meantime, in this year ‘0’, after a mild winter, apart from the storm at the end of December, the budburst began in the first days of March.
Summer temperatures in May and June initially favoured a very fine early flowering, before the coolness and heavy rainfall of July slowed down the veraison.
Finally, with temperatures and sunshine above seasonal norms, the late season was very nice, so the harvest was in the best conditions.
The predicted end of the world didn't happen !
The robe is dark ruby and the nose first reveals woody and forest floor aromas. This vintage will delight wine lovers with its silky texture, intense fruit, and clean attack, as well as pique the interest of those curious about this collector’s gem.
